Vortechtral (Kai Wiggins) has been producing and performing live electronic music from ambient to techno since early 1998. His sound has been described as having a funky techno core fused with acid house, electronica and ambient influences... He also produces and performs under separate names Vortechtral AM, and Benni Blanco for his jazzier output. Vortechtral AM is Vortechtral's ambient and more downtempo sound. As the Vortechtral style developed into a more beat driven dancefloor sound, the AM name was used to retitle all the early Vortechtral music from 1997-2003, and was continued as an outlet for his newer downtempo material. His sound has been described as having a massive blend of influences from The Orb, Laurent Garnier, The Chemical Brothers, FSOL, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Kevin Yost, Brian Eno, Dave Clarke, The Chemical Brothers, Air, The Cinematic Orchestra and many more... Releases have gone out on labels across Europe, with many more tracks available on compilations, and online via a variety of MP3 download sites. His more downtempo, chillout and ambient recordings have seen his tunes reach no.1 in international charts, and over 200,000 plays on various music sites, with numerous webcast and radio plays around the globe, and been featured in soundtracks for both the film and game industry. His music has been played across the globe in both clubs and chillout rooms. Away from the studio he performs live techno PAs, live downtempo PAs, and DJs. Vortechtral's high octane sets have given him resendencies and featured sets at numerous high profile events and venues including: Punch Funk, Homelands, Contact, Hard Lines (Geushky), Jarred, Subtechment, and more, he has been booked alongside such names as Alex Patterson (The Orb), Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser), Proteus, Lab 4, Ed Real, Joe Doe, Ian Void, and many artists, DJs and promoters. Since 2002 Kai setup the online electronic music community and label - ElectraMento. The Subtechment event and Techment Records for release of his more techno dancefloor style, releases have featured remixes from Cave, Olivier Giacomotto, Wehbba, Ian Void, Jamie Taylor, Preach & Marco G, and seen plays for DJs across the globe, including DJ Preach, and John Acquaviva... During 2005 Kai setup the event Downtown alongside Simon Heartfield. In summer of 2006 In Deep Recordings was reborn to release all his downtempo material, and Techtonic Recordings with fellow producers Danny P and DJ Aura... Late 2004 he started engineering for other artists and DJs, late 2005 with an increasingly busier schedule he setup his own home low profile studio and has currently completed productions for a variety of top labels and djs, with regular work continually on the horizon.
